A Day in Downtown Minneapolis

hey there!
This weekend I went to downtown Minneapolis with a group of kids from my church.  We went to a hip hop studio called Peace Palace.  In the morning we split into groups and did community work around the area.  Later we met back up and had lunch in the park.  It was really fun because there were a bunch of kids there and we were playing around with them.  And I suppose that sounds pretty normal for a park, but the kids started doing flips off the equipment!  It was so crazy!  The best part was one of the kids drank his pop when he flipped off.  Now thats talent!
After that we headed over to Peace Palace and they taught us how to hip hop.  It was SO much fun!  Just picture a whole bunch of kids who have NO idea what we're doing trying to breakdance. .. not a pretty sight!  But, after lots of laughs and a few falls, we pulled it off.  We even learned some dances and had a dance off at the end.
Another thing they had us do was write raps.  They were REALLY funny! We rapped about playgrounds, books, music, and even BIG JUICY GRAPES! It was such a great experience I wouldn't trade it for anything.  If you ever get the chance to learn to hip hop, do it.  You learn about the culture and what it really means to people.  Plus you meet some awesome friends!

I would have loved to be there to see a bunch of white christian kids rap and hip hop dance ( im not trying to be stereotypical) but it would be entertaining!!
